Orders open for all-electric E-Ducato van

Orders for the 100% electric Fiat E-Ducato van are now open, with prices from £47,675 ex VAT (after the Government Plug-in Van Grant) and first deliveries expected in Q4 2020.

Initially available in panel van configuration – with chassis cab and passenger van models to follow in Q1 2021 – the E-Ducato is available with 47kWh or 79kWh battery options with AC or DC charging capability, both linked to an electric motor developing 90kWh (equivalent to 122hp) and peak torque of 280Nm.

The 47kWh option provides a range of up to 120 miles (WLTP City*) and enables the van to cover 0-30mph in under 6 seconds. With the 79kWh battery pack, range is increased to up to 192 miles (WLTP City*) and a 100% charge takes just four hours, while the E-Ducato’s range is maximised through regenerative braking which stores energy under braking and deceleration.

The E-Ducato is capable of charging at both 22kW and 50kW DC, and with a 50kW DC Rapid charger either battery can be charged to 80% capacity in 30 minutes. A full charge of the 47kWh battery takes around two hours 25 minutes with a 22kW AC fast charger.

Class-leading payload

The E-Ducato maintains best-in-class payload of up to 1,950kg and the same load volumes as the equivalent conventionally powered Ducato of between 10m3 and 17m3. With 100% exemption from the London congestion charge and Ultra-Low Emission Zone (ULEZ), the E-Ducato is ideally suited for businesses in both urban and suburban environments.

Three configurations, two trims

Two trim levels are available – standard and eTecnico – and the E-Ducato panel van is available in two heights (2569mm, 2814mm), three lengths (5413mm, 5998mm, 6363mm) and three wheelbase sizes (3450mm, 4035mm, 4035XLmm).

Chassis cab models, which arrive early in 2021, will be offered with a choice of three lengths (5358mm, 5708mm, 5943mm) and four wheelbase sizes (3450mm, 3800mm, 4035mm, 4035XLmm), while the passenger van can be ordered in one size specification seating between 5 and 9 passengers. Every configuration is available with either the 47kWh or 79kWh battery.

Standard trim comes with a 5-inch touchscreen with DAB Radio and Bluetooth®, automatic climate control, tablet holder, USB charging port, fixed full width steel bulkhead, electric heated mirrors, convertors plug, LED lighting in load area, twin leaf rear suspension, lane departure warning system, advanced emergency braking, Traffic Sign Recognition (TSR), High Beam Recognition (HBR), Rain & Dusk Sensors (RDS), Electronic stability control (ESC) and driver's air bag. Both 7kW (with 47kWh) and 11kW (with 79kWh) on-board chargers, as well as a mode 3 charging cable, are also standard.

Over and above this specification, eTecnico receives a 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay™, Android Auto™ and satellite navigation, rear parking camera with reverse parking sensors, blind spot and rear cross path detection, embroidered headrests, front fog lights, heated electrically folding door mirrors, LED daytime running lights, leather steering wheel and chrome air vent surrounds.

Three driving modes

Three driving mode options give the driver a choice between available power and range: Normal mode offers optimal balance between performance and economy, while Eco mode increases the available range by managing acceleration response to reduce energy consumption and deactivation of air conditioning. Power mode is designed for facing full-load missions.

A fourth ‘Turtle’ mode is activated when battery reserve reaches near 0%. The vehicle alerts the user and activates a specific driving mode with strongly reduced performance to extend the remaining range.

Five-year warranty package and Mopar Connect as standard

All E-Ducato models benefit from a comprehensive 5-5-5 peace of mind warranty and support package, providing a 5 year warranty, 5 years roadside assistance and 5 years servicing.

Every E-Ducato also comes with a 12-month subscription to the Mopar Connect smartphone APP, providing help 24 hours a day via its crash assistance service which sends the GPS position of the van to its operations centre.

Mopar Connect Theft Assistance is able to detect unauthorised towing or tampering of the device and can receive assistance from a my:Assistant operator. After having reported the theft, the operators will provide the GPS coordinates and will immobilise the engine when the vehicle stops to facilitate recovery. Roadside Assistance is also available via Mopar Connect.

Richard Chamberlain, Head of Fiat Professional in the UK, said: “We are all incredibly excited about the arrival of the new E-Ducato in showrooms later this year, because we know what a brilliant vehicle it is. The E-Ducato will be a game-changer for the many thousands of our customers looking for a 100% electric van that’s more than a match for real-world jobs and also makes a positive step towards reducing their impact on the environment.”
